Farm Energy Programme is an Energy Efficiency Agreement under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MAF). The aim is to implement the government energy and climate policy and to improve profitability of farms. Farms offered In-House Control Plan and Farm Energy Plan and Farm Energy Audits for largest energy users as of 2010. Programme coverage target is 80% of agricultural energy use. Indicative target for improving energy efficiency is 9% of energy use of participating farms by 2016. Programme covers energy efficiency (electricity, heating, farm machinery fuels and water) and use of renewable energy. Planning subsidy 85% of eligible costs (price ceiling €1100, VAT is not an eligible cost), rest payable by farmer. Subsidies are based on the following legislation: Act on agricultural structural funding (1476/2007); Act on Support for Rural Development (1443/2006); Act on compensation for damage by natural causes, agri-environmental aid and certain other subsidies related to improving the environment and rural areas (1440/2006); 4) Act on National Aid for Agriculture and Horticulture (1559/2001); or Act on the Implementation of the Single Payment Scheme (557/2005)
