PRONAF Forestry and Eco PRONAF: Is an initiative of the Ministry of Agrarian Development (MDA) in partnership with the Ministry of Environment (MMA) and imposed in 2002 and 2007. Resolutions by the Central Bank of Brazil, lines of credit and PRONAF Forest Eco PRONAF are mostly for family farmers. Investments are focused on agroforestry (SAF), the main objectives and reforestation forestry for timber and non-timber products, renewable energy and recovery of environmental preservation areas. With a 75% market share of financing to family producers, including more than 1.2 million families nationwide, this Central Bank of Brazil (Banco do Brasil) is the main financing agent of the National Family-Based Agriculture Development Program (Pronaf) - this program destined to provide financial support to the agriculture and livestock and non-agriculture and livestock activities involving direct employment of family workforces on rural landholdings. The purpose of the program is to provide incentives for family-run agricultural production and to integrate it into the agribusiness chain, thus increasing the income of these families and adding value to their products and holdings, by means of: · professionalization of the producers and their family members; · modernization of the production system; and · empowerment of rural family producers.The diversity and sustainability that characterize Brazilian family-based agriculture are evident in the different Pronaf credit lines, such as: Pronaf Forestry, Pronaf Eco, Pronaf Agriculture and Ecology, Pronaf Semi Arid, Pronaf Women, Pronaf Youth.
