Description:
To protect their environment and meet their legal obligations, Nova Scotia is moving away from coal-based electricity and towards the use of fuels that are cleaner and lower in carbon such as natural gas and renewables.
Nova Scotia’s Renewable Electricity Plan is making the province greener and cleaner. It supports the federal requirement to dramatically reduce the use of coal. The plan and the Renewable Electricity Regulations laid out a clear set of legal requirements: 25 per cent renewable electricity supply by 2015, and 40 per cent by 2020.
