Animal by-products Regulation (ABP) - EU Commission Regulation (EU) No 142/2011 of 25 February 2011 laying down health rules as regards animal by-products and derived products not intended for human consumption
Description:
ABPs can spread animal diseases (e.g. BSE) or chemical contaminants (e.g. dioxins), and can be dangerous to animal and human health if not properly disposed of. EU rules regulate their movement, processing and disposal. The processes whereby animal by-products and derived products are transformed into biogas and composted should comply with the health rules laid down in this Regulation, as well as the measures for the protection of the environment laid down in Directive 2008/98/EC.
