Description: 
In the Walloon region, renewable electricity generation is promoted through quota obligations. Electricity suppliers are obliged to prove, by submitting certificates, that a certain statutory and continuously increasing proportion (quota) of the electricity they supply was generated from renewable sources. One certificate is issued for every MWh divided by the amount of CO2 saved (since 2011 a correction factor 'k' is applied). The minimum price per certificate is guaranteed by statutory law.
