The establishment of the Green Fund (Law 3889/2010) allows a wide distribution of funds (coming from environmental taxes, fees etc.) to targeted actions dealing with environmental protection. Indicative actions include forest management and protection, protection of water resources, prevention and management of climate change and natural disaster effects, providing co-funding for LIFE+ projects, etc.
The aim of the Green Fund is to foster development through environmental protection. The Green Fund is providing administative, economic, technical and financial support to programmes, measures and actions which aim to promote and restore Greece's environment, to support the national environmental policy and to serve the public good through the use of the Fund's resources.
