Description: 
The Ministerial Decree includes a number of good practices for the prevention of nitrate pollution from agricultural activities. It is in line with the Nitrates Directive (91/676/EEC).
Goal/Aim: 
The aim of the measure is to assist farmers in adopting environmentally friendly practices as concerns nitrogen-containing chemical fertilizers and manure. In particular, the Good Agricultural Practices aim to: 1) Avoid the contamination of surface and underground waters with nitrates due to run-offs or deep drainage. 2) Provide instructions for the proper management of water resources, e.g. irrigation systems, savings, etc. 3) Provide instructions for the handling and disposal of animal wastes (manure).
