This action plan gives clear targets for the city of Jyväskylä to tackle the climate change mitigation. The focus is on city corporation level, and as such the guidelines given are also integrated to city budget monitoring. Actions include energy (production and consumption), transport, land use, buildings, water (drinking water, waste water and run-off water), wastes and procurements.
- City corporation level decrease of greenhouse gas emissions 20 % by 2020 (base year 2005) - Energy: Energy efficiency, increase in renewables in energy production. Energy saving 9 % by 2016 (base year 2005) via energy efficiency - Transport: decrease in car dependency, increase in share of public transport (from 5% to 7%), Increase in cycling and pedestrian’s share of total trips (from 33% to 41%), guidance and promotion in sustainable transport, decrease in the need to travel. - Land use: compact and diverse land use, promotion of sustainable energy solutions in land use, adaptation to climate change in land use. - Buildings: increase in energy efficiency, promotion of building wooden buildings (also a carbon stock), recognition of changing moisture conditions - Water treatment; securing the supply, BAT in management of run-off waters, decrease in water usage. - Wastes: decrease in quantity and improvement of material efficiency in production and consumption. Decrease in traffic related to management of the wastes - Procurement: Life cycle assessment as a start point in public procurements, increase in renewable energy, e-based services and effectiveness.
